A Thought That's Been on My Mind About a Tough Topic
Assalamu alaikum everyone. I've been reflecting on something that's been weighing on my heart, and I wanted to share it here, hoping for some understanding or insights from a faith perspective. I know that in our deen, taking one's own life is considered a grave matter. At the same time, I've learned that Islam teaches compassion and understanding, especially for those who are struggling with severe mental health challenges-suggesting they might not be held fully accountable in the same way. This leads me to wonder: if someone is in such a deep state of despair that their thinking becomes clouded, almost like they can't see clearly anymore, does our faith still view them as responsible for such an act? It's a heavy question, but I think it's important to talk about with kindness and empathy, keeping in mind Allah's mercy above all. What are your thoughts?
