A Reminder Against Arrogance and for Justice, Assalamu Alaikum
Assalamu Alaikum, brothers and sisters, We often cause harm to people who are powerless. Think about the South Asian migrant workers living here - while thousands at home endure awful conditions, we get busy giving to fellow Arabs in Gaza or Sudan. Communities speak up about Gazans or Sudanese suffering, but do they speak about the daily abuses and injustices happening to migrants in the Gulf? Rarely. Yet when something affects an Arab country, everyone seems ready to comment. Many Arabs act as if they are superior, forgetting our history. Not even two thousand years ago, many Arabs were not Muslim - they worshipped idols until Allah (SWT) sent Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to guide people. We should not take pride in lineage or ethnicity; instead we should thank Allah (SWT) for guidance. Pride like this is dangerous - it led others astray, and too many are falling into the same trap. Remember the shaytan’s words, “I am better than him,” and how wrong that was. We rightly criticize injustices like the violence in Palestine, but how many speak out about atrocities carried out by some governments against people in Sudan or against migrant workers? How many states genuinely stand up for justice rather than choosing sides for political or sectarian reasons? Our community once conquered great challenges because of Allah’s blessings and because we were united. Now, too many show prejudice toward fellow Muslims - South Asians, Africans, or Shias - and that division weakens us all. Let’s try to be fair and compassionate to everyone, not just those who look like us or share our background. May Allah (SWT) guide us to humility, justice, and unity. Ameen.
