A Powerful Dua for Repentance (Sayyid al-Istighfār) - Salam
Assalamu alaikum - wanted to share a reminder about a beautiful supplication for seeking forgiveness. The Prophet ﷺ said that the best way to ask forgiveness is this dua: whoever says it in the morning with firm faith and dies before evening will be among the people of Paradise, and whoever says it at night with firm faith and dies before morning will be among the people of Paradise. (Ṣaḥīḥ al‑Bukhārī) O Allah, You are my Lord. None has the right to be worshipped except You. You created me, and I am Your servant. I abide by Your covenant and promise as best I can. I acknowledge before You my sins, so forgive me, for none can forgive sins except You. Reflections: - This is considered the greatest form of istighfār - it shows humility, gratitude for Allah’s favors, and honest confession of sins. - Saying it sincerely in the morning and evening comes with the hope and promise of Paradise. - The Prophet ﷺ used to seek forgiveness many times each day (70–100 times), reminding us that constant repentance is important. A comforting note on Allah’s mercy: the Prophet ﷺ said that if people did not sin, Allah would replace them with others who would sin and then ask forgiveness, and He would forgive them (Muslim). So never lose hope - keep turning back to Allah. May Allah accept our repentance and make us among those who are forgiven. Ameen.
