A passage from Surah Al-Ghashiyah and a simple contemplation.
Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings. Faces on that day will be humbled. (Some faces on the Day of Judgment will be humble and shameful.) Qatadah said this description, and Ibn Abbas said: "They will be humble, but that won’t help them." Then Allah said: Workers who are weary. (Like they are exhausted workers.) This means they did good deeds and worked hard until they were worn out, yet still, they will be thrown into a fierce fire on the Day of Judgment. Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Al-Barqani narrated from Abu Imran Al-Juni that he said: When Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, passed by a monk’s hermitage and called out: "O monk!" The monk came out, and when he saw Umar, he cried. They asked him: "O Commander of the Believers, why are you crying?" He said: "I remembered Allah's saying: Workers who are weary - they will burn in a blazing fire. (They are diligent workers, but it's a blazing fire)," so I was saddened by that. Al-Bukhari related from Ibn Abbas explaining that some people worked hard in this world but in sin, so their ending will be in the fire of torment. He also narrated that Ikrimah and Al-Suddi interpreted the verse to mean striving in worldly pleasures and sins, and then the reward will be in the fire of punishment and destruction. Ibn Abbas, Al-Hasan, and Qatadah gave similar insights. Just a little reminder: these verses urge us to review our actions, to strive for obedience, not sin, and to fear the Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit except for the one who comes to Allah with a sound heart. O Allah, make us among those who fear their Lord and who are protected from the torment of fire. And peace be upon you.
