A heartfelt duʿāʾ the Prophet ﷺ made in one of his toughest moments
Assalāmu ʿalaykum - I wanted to share this short reflection on a duʿāʾ the Prophet ﷺ raised during a very painful time. “O Allah, I complain to You of my weakness, my lack of resources, and how insignificant I am in the eyes of people. O Most Merciful of the merciful, You are the Lord of the oppressed, and You are my Lord. If You are not angry with me, then I do not care. I seek refuge in the light of Your Face by which darkness is illuminated and all affairs are set right. Yours is the right to reproach until You are pleased, and there is no power nor strength except through You.” This duʿāʾ was made after he was rejected and harmed in Ṭā’if, during ʿĀm al-Ḥuzn - the Year of Sadness - when his wife Khadījah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) and his uncle Abū Ṭālib both passed away. It’s a powerful reminder that even in deep sorrow the Prophet ﷺ turned to Allāh, admitting need and seeking refuge in His light. After that dark period, Allāh opened doors of mercy: the Event of al-Isrāʾ wa al-Miʿrāj, renewed support for the message, and the start of relief. Hardship wasn’t the final chapter - it became the path to greater ease. May Allāh grant us patience in trials and guide us to turn to Him. JazakAllāhu khayran for reading.
