4,000 Scholarships for Orphans and Underprivileged Kids in Sidoarjo, Regent Ensures Access to Education

The Sidoarjo Regency Government (Pemkab) is handing out 4,000 scholarships for school and university students to widen access to education and stop dropouts. This program is a long-term investment to boost the quality of human resources. The scholarship distribution was held at the Sidoarjo Public Service Mall (MPP) on Thursday (7/9) with Regent Subandi in attendance. Priority goes to orphans, underprivileged families, and high-achieving students from elementary to college level. Regent Subandi stressed that the local government is here to make sure no kid drops out because of money problems. "Education is a long-term investment. If our children have good human resources, hopefully this will help them reach a brighter future," he said. The breakdown of recipients includes 1,000 university students from the Youth, Sports and Tourism Office, 1,000 from the Social Affairs Office (500 underprivileged university students and 500 orphaned high schoolers), 500 university students from the People's Welfare Division for religious affairs, and 1,500 orphaned elementary and junior high school students from the Education and Culture Office.
