Why do hardships strike the righteous?

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. Recently, my family faced a scam that left us with a heavy financial blow. We're still in shock, our hearts are aching, and it's hard to make sense of it. We've always tried to live upright lives, steer clear of harming anyone, and we lean on Allah for everything. We pray, make dua constantly, and strive to be decent. So honestly, this ordeal has us really puzzled. I do believe that all matters are from Allah’s qadr, and every trial holds some deep wisdom. But emotionally, I can't stop wondering: why does it feel like only good people get hit with such troubles? How do you deal with a test like this from an Islamic viewpoint?
