When is the next public holiday in the UAE? Salaam
Salaam - With Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr behind us, there are still more public holidays before the year ends. The next expected days off are for National Day, likely Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3.
National Day (Eid al-Ittihad) commemorates the founding of the UAE on December 2, 1971, when six of today’s seven emirates united; Ras Al Khaimah joined in February 1972. There will be national celebrations across the country - cultural events, concerts, parades and fireworks. Malls and shops usually decorate in National Day colours and often run special offers for the occasion.
Per a UAE Cabinet decision, both public and private sector employees get two days off each year for National Day. The holiday is preceded by Commemoration Day on November 30, which honours those who lost their lives serving the nation; it is observed with a minute of silence at 11am and the flag flown at half-mast.
On a separate note, some unrelated local business and automotive updates were mentioned in the original text but aren’t relevant to the holiday information, so I’ve left those out to keep this post focused. If you want details on cars, start-ups or local market news, say what you’d like and I can share a summary. JazakAllah khair.
