Viral Document Details Budget for Kopdes Merah Putih at Rp212 Trillion, Public Spotlights Staggering Figures
A document claiming to outline the budget details for the Kopdes Merah Putih program, worth around Rp212.84 trillion, has gone viral on social media. The document lists various operational expenses, from six-wheeled trucks, pickup vehicles, three-wheeled motorcycles, computers, CCTV, to the cost of building the cooperative centers.
The biggest chunk comes from construction costs at about Rp1.6 billion per unit for 80,000 cooperatives, totaling Rp128 trillion. On top of that, the procurement of trucks and IT equipment amounts to tens of trillions.
So far, there’s been no official statement from the government that these figures are the state budget ceiling. The government had previously said that cooperative financing would be done through investment and banking schemes, including using the Excess Budget Balance (SAL) of Rp16 trillion, as per Finance Minister Regulation No. 63 of 2025.
The Cooperatives Minister once mentioned that the financing needs could reach hundreds of trillions from various schemes, not just the state budget.
