Vice President Gibran's Instagram Account Linked to Following Online Gambling Account, Vice President's Secretariat Provides Clarification
Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's Instagram account has come under scrutiny after it was found to be following the account @xxxx_jaxxxx.game, which features online gambling content. This fact was revealed in a post on social media platform X on Tuesday (3/6/2025) and subsequently went viral. The Vice President's Secretariat (Setwapres) has spoken up to address the issue.
According to an official statement from Setwapres to Kompas.com on Wednesday (4/6/2025), the @xxxx_jaxxxx.game account was created in November 2022 and has changed its username seven times. This history of changes indicates that the account was originally not an online gambling account, but rather a regular account that later changed its identity. Setwapres explained that Gibran followed the account before its content changed, and he is no longer following it now.
As a follow-up, Gibran unfollowed the account as soon as it was discovered to contain content that does not comply with norms. Setwapres has also reported the account to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) so that it can be blocked and not harm the public. The Komdigi side is said to have followed up on the report.
