Surabaya Debarkation Officially Closes Hajj Operations 2026, 43,895 Pilgrims and Staff Safely Returned
Surabaya debarkation officially wrapped up the 1447 H/2026 M Hajj operations on Wednesday (1/7). The arrival of flight group 116 at 3 PM local time marked the final flight, capping off 31 days of safe and orderly pilgrim repatriation. PPIH Debarkasi Surabaya Chairman Mohammad As’adul Anam expressed gratitude for the smooth process thanks to the synergy of various parties.
The total number of pilgrims and staff repatriated reached 43,895, nearly meeting the 44,000 target. A total of 106 people haven't returned yet due to death, being treated in Saudi Arabia, or operational adjustments. During the repatriation period, 91 flights arrived on time, 13 were early, and 11 were delayed. There were also 332 outbound mutations and 129 inbound mutations for operational optimization.
PPIH recorded six pilgrims who passed away, one of whom died on the plane during the return journey. The handling of the remains and the pilgrims' rights have been fulfilled in accordance with regulations. There are still 17 pilgrims being treated in Saudi hospitals who will be repatriated once their condition allows.
Anam appreciated all parties involved and emphasized that evaluations will continue to be carried out to improve professionalism and Hajj services in the future.
