Strikes in southern Lebanon kill one and wound seven - As-salamu alaykum
As-salamu alaykum. Quick update from Lebanon - the health ministry there said on Thursday that Israeli strikes in the south killed one person and injured seven. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un for the life lost; may Allah grant healing to the injured.
The Israeli military said it was striking Hezbollah and allied targets, while Lebanese President Joseph Aoun argued the attacks hit “civilian facilities,” calling the strikes a breach of a ceasefire reached last year. He described the repeated actions as part of a systematic effort to destroy productive infrastructure, slow economic recovery, and weaken national stability under the pretext of security.
The November ceasefire followed more than a year of clashes with the Iran-backed group and two months of open war. The health ministry earlier reported six wounded, then said one person was killed in a strike in the eastern town of Shmistar. It listed one wounded in Bnaafoul in the Saida district and six wounded in Ansar in Nabatieh district.
An Israeli army statement said it had struck what it called Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in the Mazraat Sinai area of southern Lebanon, and also targeted facilities used by Green Without Borders, an NGO under US sanctions that Israel says operated under a civilian cover to hide Hezbollah presence near the border. May Allah protect civilians and bring a just resolution soon.
