Soerjo Wirjohadipoetro: The Financial General Close to Soeharto and Patron of the SIHI Foundation
Lieutenant General (Ret.) KRMH Soerjo Wirjohadipoetro, a financial general from the 1945 generation, was known as President Soeharto's trusted man in financial matters. Born in Kediri on March 24, 1917, his military career spanned from PETA to becoming the Finance Chief of the Ministry of Defense and the President's Personal Assistant for financial affairs (1966–1974).
His closeness with Soeharto started when he was assigned to KOTI. After the G30S, he led the State Financial Audit Team (1967) and became part of the New Order's business network. After retiring with the rank of Lieutenant General (1974), he briefly served as a member of the DPA (1983–1988).
Soerjo was also a Patron of the Harapan Ibu Islamic School Foundation (SIHI) in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, which runs kindergarten through high school. His name came up in a foundation management dispute (2011) and recent news about a weapon found at the school (2026). He passed away on August 31, 2022, at the age of 105, and was buried at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.
