Sidoarjo Hajj Waitlist Largest in East Java, Estimated Wait Time 29 Years
Public interest in performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Sidoarjo continues to rise, causing the waitlist for prospective pilgrims in this regency to become the largest in East Java. As of May 4, 2026, the waiting list number has reportedly reached 85,164 people, with an estimated departure wait time of about 29 years.
Acting Head of the Sidoarjo Hajj Ministry, Eliana, confirmed that Sidoarjo's Hajj waitlist is the largest in East Java, followed by Surabaya. She explained that the current quota allocation system is based on the waitlist of each region, so the national estimated wait is uniform at 29 years.
For the 2026 departure, Sidoarjo Regency holds the second largest quota position in East Java after Jember Regency, followed by Lamongan, Gresik, and Surabaya City. This policy is implemented to make quota distribution more equitable based on the number of registrants in each area.
