Russia and Syria discussed key areas of cooperation - Assalamu alaikum.
Assalamu alaikum. At the meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Vershinin, and the head of the Syrian President's administration, Maher Sharaa, the main topic was the development of Russian-Syrian ties, as reported by the Foreign Ministry.
They discussed practical issues to strengthen multifaceted cooperation between our countries. They also paid attention to the current situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, with a special focus on aiding the post-conflict recovery and helping the civilian population.
As a result of the conversation, they confirmed the intention to continue the political dialogue to coordinate approaches on regional and international issues.
Earlier, Russia and Iran expressed support for Syria's territorial integrity and opposed any attempts to encroach upon its sovereignty. Also, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, visited Moscow for his first official visit - negotiations with the Russian leader ended with an agreement to restart relations and deepen cooperation.
