Russia and Saudi Arabia are expanding cooperation in LNG and energy
Assalamu alaikum. Quick to the point: Russia and Saudi Arabia plan to step up cooperation in LNG, hydro and nuclear power, the press service of the Russian government says.
Representatives of the two countries discussed ongoing projects on the sidelines of the international forum "Russian Energy Week" in Moscow. Those meetings are preparing the work of the Russian‑Saudi Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific‑Technical Cooperation and the Russia - Saudi Arabia business forum, which will be held in the Kingdom on November 5–6.
They note that Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy Abdulaziz bin Salman took part in the talks. The government clarified that special attention was paid to energy issues, and it was said that joint actions within OPEC+ correspond to long‑term national interests and help strengthen the economies of both countries. The sides also spoke about opportunities to carry out joint projects in LNG, hydro and nuclear energy.
By the end of 2024 the trade volume between Russia and Saudi Arabia grew by more than 60%. There’s also noticeable growth in investment cooperation: in recent years Moscow and Riyadh have implemented nearly fifty joint projects in areas like transport, IT, infrastructure and petrochemicals.
Earlier there were reports about Russia’s plans to cancel visas soon for citizens of Saudi Arabia and Malaysia - inshallah, if everything is agreed.
