Regent Tarmizi Builds Specialty Souvenir Center to Boost Local Businesses
West Aceh Regent Tarmizi SP, MM along with Vice Regent Said Fadheil SH inspected the construction site of a West Aceh specialty souvenir center next to the Baitul Makmur Grand Mosque in Johan Pahlawan District on Thursday (8/6/2026). This outlet will sell local crafts and souvenirs made by local small business owners.
Tarmizi mentioned several crafts that are already underway, including those made from water hyacinth, kasab fabric, and downstream food products from lumi-lumi fish. So far the potential is there but the market isn’t available, so the government is setting up the market and the community is preparing the products.
The location was chosen next to the mosque so that tourists who stop by can buy souvenirs while also visiting the Baitul Makmur Grand Mosque. Being right on the main road makes it easy for people to drop by, unlike if the location were tucked away deep inland.
