NTB Police Chief Holds Adzan and Body Washing Competition with Umrah Prize
The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police held an Adzan and Body Washing Competition for personnel from district police and work units as part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day. The event took place on June 18–19, 2026 at the Baitussalam Mosque of the NTB Police Headquarters, joined by 71 adzan participants and 47 body washing participants. The top prize is umrah for the champions.
NTB Police Chief, Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja, said the competition aims to build the character of professional, socially caring, and religiously skilled police officers. Considering that 95.5 percent of NTB's population is Muslim, the ability to perform adzan and handle bodies is relevant to community needs.
Aside from mental and spiritual guidance, this competition also sharpens personnel readiness in handling death cases or body discoveries, which are quite frequent in NTB. The Police Chief stressed the importance of realizing a humane and religious police force that can collaborate with the public, not just focusing on law enforcement.
This activity was inspired by the Police Chief's experience while serving in the Aceh Police and is part of the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration that emphasizes education and strengthening the police's role as protector, guardian, and public servant.
