Minister Gus Irfan: 50% of 2026 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Have Departed
Indonesia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf (Gus Irfan), reported that around 50 percent of the 2026 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have been dispatched to the Holy Land. This statement was made while seeing off pilgrims from Groups 62 and 63 originating from Jombang on Thursday (May 7th). He affirmed that the departure process is running smoothly without significant obstacles, with some pilgrims who were previously in Medina already starting to move to Mecca.
Regarding problem handling, only one pilgrim was rejected by Saudi Arabian Immigration due to a case history, and about 10 people were delayed at the Hajj Dormitory due to health conditions. Gus Irfan reminded everyone of the importance of maintaining health to ensure worship proceeds smoothly. Additionally, the Ministry has formed a joint task force with the Police and Immigration to prevent illegal Hajj practices.
So far, fewer than 100 prospective illegal Hajj pilgrims have been detained at the airport, a sharp decline from over 1,000 in 2025. Gus Irfan urged the public not to be tempted by offers for Hajj without queuing, emphasizing his principle that there is no Hajj without a proper queuing process.
