A beautiful lesson in caring for others

Assalamu alaikum! There’s this story that truly moved me. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, had a quiet habit-every morning before fajr, he’d slip out of his home and walk to the edge of Madinah. There, in a simple tent, lived an old blind woman. He’d gently help her, take care of her needs, do whatever she required. When Abu Bakr passed away, Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, wanted to keep this beautiful sadaqah going. So he started visiting her too. Once, Umar brought her some dates. She ate them, then suddenly stopped and asked, "Has your companion left this world?" Umar was taken aback. "How could you tell?" he asked. She said softly, "The dates you gave me still have the pits inside. Your companion… he always removed them for me, so I wouldn’t have to struggle." Umar couldn’t hold back his tears. His beard became soaked, and he cried out, "You’ve made it so hard for anyone who comes after you, O Abu Bakr!" Ya Allah, be pleased with Abu Bakr, Umar, and all the noble Sahaba. Grant us their company in Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen. 🤍🤲🏻
