KPK Sting Operation on West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini

The KPK caught West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini in a sting operation (OTT) on Monday (20/7). KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the arrest. This is the 17th OTT carried out by the KPK so far in 2026. Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested. Throughout 2026, the KPK has conducted a series of OTTs, starting in January with the arrest of eight people related to alleged bribery in tax audits. From February to July, the KPK nabbed various local and central officials, including the Mayor of Madiun, the Regent of Pati, the Regent of Pekalongan, and Customs officials. In June, the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections turned himself in after an OTT. Before this OTT, in July 2026 the KPK had already caught the Regent of Langkat and the Regent of Sukoharjo in the 15th and 16th OTTs.
