June 26 International Anti-Narcotics Day: Saving the Young Generation from the Dangers of Drugs
Every June 26 we mark International Anti-Narcotics Day (HANI), a global moment to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and illegal trafficking. The UN set this observance back in 1987, making it clear that the fight against drugs is everyone's responsibility, not just law enforcement's.
In Indonesia, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) keeps working on prevention, eradication, and rehab, especially targeting vulnerable young people. The ways drugs are distributed are getting trickier, with online deals and stuff disguised as food or e-cigarettes, so we all gotta stay alert.
Prevention is key, with family, school, and community as the first line of defense. We need to cut down the stigma on victims, 'cause they need support and rehab to get back on their feet.
The 2026 HANI observance calls on all parts of society to build a healthy, drug-free environment, from home to digital spaces. It's on each of us to protect the youth from the threat of narcotics.
