In Volsk, a square was named after the Muslim hero Mudaris Mustafin.
Assalamu alaikum. In the city of Volsk in the Saratov region they opened a small park which they decided to name after a local hero - ground-attack pilot Mudaris Mustafin, Hero of the Soviet Union. May Allah have mercy on him.
At the ceremony on Chernyshevsky Street there were officials, public and religious figures, and military personnel. You could tell it was an important day for many.
Ramil Mustafin, imam-mukhtasib of Ivanteyevsky District and a relative of the hero, in his speech reminded everyone how important it is to know your roots, keep historical memory alive and pass it on to the youth.
A representative of the muftiate emphasized that this Muslim attack pilot sacrificed himself defending his native land, and his feat will remain in people’s hearts for a long time. He also added that today Muslims, side by side with Orthodox believers and members of other confessions, are taking part in the SVO (special military operation), defending the country’s interests and caring for the next generation.
Mudaris Mustafin was born in Volsk in 1916, lived and worked there. During the war he flew about a hundred combat sorties, boldly attacked the enemy, showing courage and bravery. He commanded a flight in an assault aviation regiment and was awarded medals and orders.
A year ago the chairman of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, mufti Albir Krganov, reported that 200,000 Muslims were participating in the SVO. Since then, as was noted at the ceremony, their number has noticeably grown.
Islam originated in the 7th century and has had a strong influence on the history, culture and social life of many peoples. In Arabic, “Islam” means submission to the will of Allah. Today the religion has more than a billion followers.
