How can I strive for Jannah as a new Muslim?
Assalamu alaikum brothers and sisters, Alhamdulillah I accepted Islam last year (28th July, 2024). It's been a journey - there were times I wasn't so consistent and times I was more focused. Over the last four months I went from praying once a day, to twice, to three times, and this past week I finally committed to praying five times a day. It feels so fulfilling and takes a lot of stress away. I keep thinking about Allah and wondering how much more I should push myself. Sometimes when I listen to imams or sheikhs, especially advice aimed at converts, it feels a bit intense and overwhelming. I'm European and the idea of learning Arabic fluently or memorising large portions of the Qur'an right now feels beyond me, even though I'm inspired and want to keep praying five times a day for the rest of my life. I'll try to recite parts of the Qur'an and learn some Arabic bit by bit, but I worry about what actually guarantees Jannah. I plan to perform Hajj someday, inshaAllah, but I hear different scholars say different things about what leads to Jannah and it confuses me. So my question is: what practical, realistic steps can a new Muslim like me take to increase the hope of entering Jannah while staying balanced and not burning out? Any advice, dua, or simple goals that helped you would be appreciated. Jazakum Allah khairan and may Allah bless you all :)
