Hadith on the Command to Eat and Drink with the Right Hand, What's the Ruling?
Islam regulates the etiquette of eating and drinking, including the recommendation to use the right hand. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught this habit from childhood, as narrated in a hadith by Bukhari and Muslim. In another hadith, the Prophet forbade eating with the left hand because it resembles the habit of Satan. Scholars explain that the right hand is honored because it signifies blessings. For left-handed people, it is still recommended to train themselves to use the right hand when eating and drinking, while for other activities like writing, using the left hand is allowed. The Prophet once reprimanded someone who refused to eat with his right hand out of arrogance, until his hand couldn't be lifted to his mouth (Narrated by Muslim).
