Gus Irfan Asks for Additional 2027 Hajj Budget Ceiling of Rp1.84 Trillion for Technical Costs
Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf (Gus Irfan) revealed that his ministry needs an extra budget of Rp1.84 trillion in 2027 to support the technical implementation of hajj and umrah services. Currently, the indicative ceiling they've received is only Rp1.94 trillion and just covers employee expenses, office operations, and infrastructure development through SBSN.
He explained that the total required amount reaches Rp3.78 trillion, so there's a shortfall proposed to be covered by pure rupiah. The biggest chunk of the budget is needed by the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organizer Guidance, worth over Rp1.1 trillion, which isn't included in the indicative ceiling.
Other directorates also need funding, like Hajj Services at Rp67.39 billion, Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development at Rp39.95 billion, Hajj and Umrah Implementation Control at Rp23.73 billion, and the Inspectorate General at Rp27.96 billion. The Secretariat General is still short by Rp543.38 billion.
Gus Irfan stressed that the available fiscal room just can't support the core activities of organizing hajj and umrah pilgrimages, so the additional budget is crucial.
