Flooding in Ghana Kills 34, 89,000 People Displaced
Ghana has been hit by severe flooding since early last week that left 34 people dead, with the possibility of more casualties as recovery operations continue. Director of the NADMO Inspectorate, Richard Amo Yartey, said 12 deaths have been confirmed in Accra and authorities are still verifying reports of missing persons.
Emergency teams are still searching and distributing aid to affected communities. The floods hit seven regions and displaced 89,736 people, with Greater Accra recording the highest number of displaced (54,712 people), followed by the Central Region (21,882 people).
Other affected areas include Volta, Western, Ashanti, Western North, and Eastern regions with lower displacement numbers.
