Finding my way back to Islam through love – is my intention pure?
Assalamu alaikum, I became Muslim four years ago, but I have to be honest-the past two years, I was hardly practicing. I fell in with the wrong crowd, and my faith just slipped away. I felt so lost. Then, out of nowhere, I met a Muslim sister, and we've grown close. She’s made me want to be better. I’ve started praying again and taking my obligations to Allah seriously, not to show off, but because I genuinely want to become a man worthy of her-and, more importantly, worthy of my Creator. Still, I can’t shake this guilt. Shouldn’t I have returned to Islam purely out of love for Allah, not because of a woman? We keep our interactions respectful, and we’re definitely not doing anything physical before marriage. But I feel like a hypocrite sometimes. Even though I know my faith is real again, I’d be lying if I said she wasn’t a big part of why I’m practicing now. Is it wrong that it took meeting her to wake me up?
