Fate of Quran Challenge Organizer with Alcohol Prize to Be Decided Tonight
The North Jakarta Metro Police will hold a case review to determine the legal status of two suspected organizers of a Quran memorization challenge with an alcohol prize, a woman with the initials R and a man with the initials E. A decision will be made by tomorrow at the latest on whether this alleged religious blasphemy case will proceed to the investigation stage.
The two are the individuals recorded in a viral video during The Sounds Project concert at Ecovention & Ecopark Ancol. If proven to meet criminal elements, they can be charged under Article 300 of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
