Corruptors in the MBG Program Deserve the Maximum Sentence
Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Didik Mukrianto, said that President Prabowo Subianto’s removal of Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana and his two deputies shows the government’s serious commitment to fighting corruption. This swift move was taken after receiving public reports, findings of irregularities, and internal evaluation results indicating deviations in the Free Nutritious Food Program (MBG).
Didik reckons the alleged corruption in the MBG program not only costs the state trillions of rupiah but also robs the basic rights of poor communities and children to nutritious food. These actions have long-term impacts on human resource quality, including stunted growth and reduced cognitive abilities.
He urges law enforcement to apply maximum sanctions if criminal elements are proven in court. This case is expected to be a stark warning that corruption against social programs for vulnerable people won't be tolerated.
