Complete Umrah Intention Recitation with Arabic, Latin, Meaning, and the Procedure According to Sunnah
Performing the umrah pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a dream for every Muslim. This worship is often called the minor hajj because its rituals are similar to hajj, like ihram, tawaf, and sa’i, but without standing at Arafah and staying overnight in Muzdalifah. To make the worship valid and smooth, it’s important to understand and memorize the umrah intention recitation correctly.
Intention holds a fundamental role in Islamic law. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "Indeed, all actions depend on their intentions" (Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim). Fiqh scholar Wahbah Az-Zuhaili stressed that the intention must be present in the heart, not just on the lips. There are several versions of the intention recitation: a complete version "Nawaitul 'umrata wa ahramtu bihaa lillaahi ta'aala, labbaika Allahumma 'umratan," a short version "Labbaika Allahumma 'umratan," and also an intention for hajj and umrah combined (Qiran).
The time-based miqat for umrah is flexible throughout the year, but it’s makruh on the Day of Arafah, Eid al-Adha, and Tasyriq days. The location-based miqat from Madinah is Zulhulaifah (Bir Ali), while from Indonesia, you can say it as the plane passes Qarnul Manazil or Yalamlam. The procedure includes: being pure from hadas, facing the qibla, standing upright, raising your hands, reciting with khushu', and understanding the meaning. After ihram, it’s sunnah to read the talbiyah and a protection prayer.
