BPJPH Speeds Up 24-Hour Digital AI-Based Halal Certification for Micro and Small Businesses
The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has confirmed that halal certificates for micro and small businesses (UMK) through the self-declare scheme can now be issued within a maximum of 24 hours once all documents are complete. BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan said this acceleration is made possible through digitalization and artificial intelligence in the certification process.
He emphasized that halal certification is important not only for Muslims but also as a global trend related to health, sustainability, and the economy. Non-Muslim countries like China, South Korea, the US, and the UK are showing increasing interest in halal products.
According to a DinarStandard report, the global halal industry transaction value has reached around Rp21,000 trillion, with Rp6,900 trillion of that occurring in Indonesia. In 2025, the contribution of the sharia economy and halal industry to the national GDP is around 27 percent.
BPJPH continues to push for strengthening the national halal ecosystem, including speeding up certification services for UMK so they can more easily enter the global halal industry supply chain.
