Bidpropam of the Kepri Regional Police Reveals Motive Behind Assault Leading to the Death of Bripda Natanael
The Profession and Security Division (Bidpropam) of the Kepri Regional Police has revealed the motive behind the assault that caused the death of Bripda Natanael Simanungkalit. Eight members of the Samapta Directorate of the Kepri Regional Police were involved in the incident, which occurred at the Kepri Regional Police mess on Tuesday (14/4/2026). Currently, one senior police officer has been named a suspect, while seven other members are still under investigation.
Head of Bidpropam for the Kepri Regional Police, Kombes Pol Eddwi Kurniyanto, explained that the assault was triggered by the senior's frustration because the victim was considered not to have participated in communal curvei or mess area cleanup activities. "Unfortunately, this action, claimed as 'coaching,' ended fatally," said Eddwi. Another victim, with the initials AP, also experienced beating and kicking but only suffered bruises.
The body of Bripda Natanael is still at Bhayangkara Hospital to undergo an autopsy to medically determine the cause of death. The police emphasize that this case will be investigated transparently and firmly, both through ethical code handling by Bidpropam and through the legal process by the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Kepri Regional Police concerning the criminal act of assault leading to death.
