Bappenas Says Sharia Economy Key to Facing Future Global Crisis
Deputy Minister of National Development Planning/Deputy Head of Bappenas Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard stressed that developing the sharia economy is key to strengthening national economic growth amid global uncertainty. Dynamic geopolitical shifts are affecting energy prices, food, logistics, and investment flows.
Febrian explained that the sharia economy offers a balanced development concept between growth, social justice, and sustainability. Strengthening the halal industry and sharia ecosystem is expected to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economic system.
Strategic priorities include enhancing economic integration among OIC countries, accelerating downstream processing in the halal industry, and cross-sector coordination. Indonesia is targeted to become a global center for production, innovation, and halal value chain networks, not just a consumer.
"A nation's strength is determined by its ability to turn uncertainty into opportunity, challenges into innovation, and crisis into a momentum for progress," Febrian said at the Islamic Economic Outlook 2026 seminar in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/17/2026).
