Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2026: A Magnet for World Athletes and an Economic Blessing for Locals
Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2026 will be held on June 27-28 at the Muncar BMX Supercross Circuit, with 343 participants from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines. Athletes, teams, and their families are starting to arrive for preparations.
The Olympic-standard circuit, listed on the UCI calendar, is a draw as a points-scoring event and boasts top facilities in Southeast Asia. The competition features various classes, from Challenge to Championship Elite, Junior, and U23.
The arrival of participants gives a direct economic impact to local residents. Erwin, a local, rents out his house as accommodation for athletes. "The income isn't bad," he says. Tumini opens additional businesses like food stalls, vehicle rental, and public toilets.
The event is expected to strengthen Banyuwangi's position as a sport tourism destination in Indonesia.
