B50 Fuel Test Results in 2025 Under Scrutiny Ahead of National Rollout in July 2026
The government's plan to launch B50 fuel on July 1, 2026, is back in the spotlight after the 2025 trial results were brought up. B50 is diesel with a 50 percent biodiesel blend, claimed to support the energy transition and cut fossil fuel imports.
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources spokesperson Dwi Anggia said that B50 road tests have been going on since April 2026. The quality of B100 as the blend component meets specifications, and vehicle fuel consumption remains stable according to manufacturer standards.
Back in 2025, Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Eniya Listiani Dewi explained that testing covered fuel characteristics, precipitation, and storage stability. The government is urging the industry to keep distribution and blending quality in check.
The implementation of B50 is projected to save foreign exchange up to Rp157.28 trillion and absorb 2.2 million workers, while also reducing reliance on fossil energy.
