Analyst: Teddy's Popularity Soars Without Political Machinery, What's the Key?
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya is seeing his popularity keep climbing, both on social media and in face-to-face meetings. Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio (Hensa) says this is surprising because Teddy's position isn't one that usually generates widespread fame. "I'm amazed, it's buzzing on social media, and even more so on the ground," Hensa remarked.
Hensa reckons Teddy's popularity doesn't come from political machinery or an executive role, but from a personal closeness with the public. To him, the keys are consistently showing up among the people, being responsive to issues, and the ability to explain technical stuff in a simple way. "It's not just a campaign effect or fleeting news coverage," he stressed.
Teddy's presence at an NU event in Madura and before farmers and fishermen in Gorontalo drew enthusiastic receptions. Hensa says this popularity leaves senior politicians lagging behind because Teddy is accepted without any party structure. "This is proof of top-notch communication skills and social connection," he said.
Hensa suggests that political actors study this phenomenon to get back to focusing on trust and real work. "This isn't standard image-building, but how a bureaucrat truly gains acceptance from the people," he concluded.
