Ahead of First Hajj Quota Corruption Trial, Gus Yaqut Supporters Yet to Be Seen
The scene at Central Jakarta District Court this morning is fairly quiet with no sign of supporters of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as the first hearing of the alleged 2023–2024 hajj quota corruption case is about to begin. The hearing is scheduled for the KPK prosecutors to read out the indictment.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the prosecutors will lay out the case structure, the role of each defendant, and the alleged state losses. The four defendants are Gus Yaqut, former Special Staff to the Minister Ishfah Abidal Aziz, PT Maktour Operations Director Ismail Adham, and PT Raudah Eksati Utama Commissioner Asrul Azis Taba.
Budi explained that the indictment will contain facts and evidence, including alleged money flows and the articles being charged. The KPK encourages the public to follow the trial closely, to test all the details of the indictment through the evidence process.
