Aceh Religious Affairs Office Holds Lebaran Yatim, Dozens of Children Receive Aid and Scholarships
BANDA ACEH – The Aceh Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs held Lebaran Yatim on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as part of the Muharram Month, designated as National Waqf Month. This nationwide simultaneous event provided assistance, educational support, and scholarships to orphans and people with disabilities, while also educating the public about zakat, infak, sedekah, and waqf (ZISWAF).
Head of the Aceh Regional Office, H Azhari, emphasized that zakat and waqf are crucial instruments for community empowerment. Zakat meets urgent needs, while waqf provides sustainable benefits like supporting education and healthcare services. He called for stronger synergy in managing zakat and productive waqf for the betterment of the people.
Head of the Islamic Information and Zakat Waqf Division, Zulfikar, explained that the event also showcased the potential of orphans, distributed aid simultaneously, and promoted the use of digital zakat services. A total of 73 children received aid in the form of cash, basic food, school supplies, and scholarships from various institutions, including BSI Maslahat (20 recipients, total Rp10 million), DT Peduli, and Rumah Zakat.
