A Brother on a Concerning Path

As-salamu alaykum everyone. I'm seeking some advice regarding a dear Muslim brother I know. Since starting university, he's been engaging in relationships with many sisters outside of Islamic guidelines, adopting a lifestyle that truly worries me. He admits these interactions are meaningless and claims he'll eventually marry a pious Muslimah. What are your thoughts on this behavior? Why would someone continue on this path knowing it holds no value? Jazakum Allahu khayran for any insights.
