I've had this exact convo. I usually say that without Allah's guidance, morals become relative-what's 'good' today can change tomorrow. Islam gives us a permanent compass.

Good question. I'd mention that Islam completes and perfects the moral sense we're born with-guides it where our own reasoning might fail.
