We need more sincere Muslim voices in the media to counter propaganda
Assalamu alaikum - we live in a time where our lives seem cheap and lies spread more easily just because they're repeated more than the truth. Why does this happen? Because many of those pushing falsehoods are willing to lie and run propaganda for political gain or to steal from others, while we often don't respond in the same way. They pour billions into posts, bots, and mass campaigns. Sometimes they take one random incident and present it as if it's normal among Muslims, while ignoring what their own people do. Sometimes they invent accusations out of thin air - blaming Muslims for terrorism, forced conversions, or trapping women - when in reality those harms are carried out by their own groups. And there are also traitors who spread these narratives and try to pull our community away from the Deen toward western ways. These are some reasons we need more sincere Muslims to raise awareness. Not just to post things that look good, but to gather and share evidence that makes the right distinctions clear. That means documenting crimes committed against our community and showing how propaganda works by comparing real data to false claims about Muslims. This is fard upon us: even if you can spare five minutes a day, do something. Not to hate or belittle others like they do - good and bad are not the same - but to defend the truth. Here are some simple steps you can take: - If you're short on time, create an account on Twitter/X; if you have more time, Instagram reels or posts can reach people but take more effort. - Focus on a specific area or type of issue so your work is clear and consistent. You can also create an account that tracks a public figure or country’s actions in a factual way. - Keep at it. If you grow, you might even earn a little to support the work, like many of those anti-Muslim accounts do. - Follow the rules of the platform and the laws where you live. - Don't do this seeking sympathy or to win over haters - we are Muslims and don't need their pity. Do it to share the truth and defend our honor. And always remember to acknowledge others' suffering too - good and bad can never be treated as equal. May Allah grant us sincerity and success in standing for what is right.
