US Extends Ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan's Request
The United States has decided to extend its ceasefire with Iran. The previous ceasefire ended on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) Washington DC time, or Wednesday in Iran's time zone.
President Donald Trump stated this decision was made at Pakistan's request, specifically naming Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. However, the US will continue its blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump also claimed there is division within the Iranian government regarding the second round of peace negotiations. He stated the US will extend the ceasefire until Iran submits a unified proposal and the discussions are concluded.
