Tolerance on Display at Nganjuk Carnival: Emergency Prayer Facilities Set Up, Sound Horeg and Inappropriate Costumes Officially Banned

The PHBN committee of Nganjuk Regency set up emergency worship tents at the departure point for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day cultural parade to accommodate Muslim participants performing the Zuhr prayer. Tents from BPBD were erected because Ploso Stadium doesn't have a permanent prayer room yet. PHBN Chairman Puguh Harnoto said this step reflects tolerance, given the diverse backgrounds of the participants. The committee also laid down firm rules: participants are banned from using excessive sound horeg, in line with an MUI fatwa, and from wearing inappropriate costumes, including men dressing as women. These rules were communicated during technical meetings to maintain order and decency. The 81st Independence Day events in Nganjuk are also livened up with sports and social activities among OPDs, climaxing with the Proclamation Seconds Ceremony on August 17, 2026.
