The first tanks of domestic production have arrived in the Turkish army - peace be upon you.
Peace be upon you. The first tanks made in Turkey have been delivered to the Turkish army. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced this at the opening of a new tank and armored vehicle assembly plant in Ankara.
The first serial tank developed and assembled at the BMC facility is called "Altay." According to Erdoğan, the vehicle is equipped with modern systems that allow it to operate even in tough combat conditions.
At the new plant, they will produce "Altay" tanks and the "Altug" armored vehicle. The president emphasized: "We continue to create legends with our air, land, and sea military machines. We're no longer the country that follows others; now others follow us." He also noted that Turkey's dependence on imported defense products is now less than 20%.
Erdoğan added that there are over 1,400 defense projects being implemented in the country, and in drone manufacturing, Turkey has entered the top three global leaders, supplying drones to 180 countries.
