Surabaya City Gov Iron Chair Theft, Perpetrator Used Clinic Ambulance
Satpol PP Surabaya uncovered a case of iron chair theft belonging to the Surabaya City Government. Two chairs bearing the city gov logo were found at a scrap collector's place on Jalan Kaliwaron, Gubeng, during a routine patrol on June 23, 2026. The perpetrator, a resident of Sumenep, used the clinic ambulance where he works to transport the 35 kg chairs.
Acting Head of Satpol PP Surabaya Irna Pawanti stated the perpetrator sometimes asked rickshaw drivers or janitors for help, paying Rp20 thousand to lift the chairs whose locks had come off. The ambulance had already left when officers arrived, and another man came on a motorcycle carrying a suspected fake travel permit.
Two people have been detained-the suspected delivery person and the scrap collector. Police are still hunting a woman believed to be the perpetrator's accomplice in Sumenep. The collector should've been suspicious since the chairs had a distinctive government asset logo.
