Prof Niam Leads Survey for NU Congress Site in NTB, Optimism Grows
The process of selecting the location for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress in August 2026 is entering a crucial phase. PBNU has formed a survey team to assess the readiness of five candidate host regions: NTB, East Java, West Java, Jakarta, and West Sumatra.
Prof KH Asrorun Niam Sholeh was appointed to lead the site survey team in NTB, accompanied by KH. Imam Buchori Cholil, H. Aizudin Abdurrahman, HM Syarif Munawi, and H Silahudin. Prof Niam emphasized his commitment to carrying out the mandate objectively so that the results are accepted by all parties.
The team is scheduled to work on July 4–5, 2026. The chairman of PWNU NTB, Prof Masnun Taher, welcomed the initiative and has prepared several locations such as Ponpes Qomarul Huda Bagu, Ponpes Darul Falah, and Ponpes Islahuddini. In addition to the survey, there will be an istighosah session and a World Cup watch party at the PWNU NTB office.
