President Sheikh Mohamed leads UAE Flag Day celebrations in Abu Dhabi - Salam and pride
Assalamu alaikum. President Sheikh Mohamed led the nation on Monday as people gathered with patriotic pride to mark the 13th annual Flag Day. He raised the flag at a colourful ceremony at Qasr Al Hosn, with a military guard of honour and the national anthem played.
Retired Emirati military personnel attended and were honoured for their long service to the country. Sheikh Mohamed described the day as a chance to recognise the nation's achievements and to look forward with hope. He welcomed the veterans earlier at a reception at Qasr Al Bateen and then accompanied them to Qasr Al Hosn, calling these former service members a valuable national asset whose loyalty and dedication will inspire future Emirati generations.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed raised the UAE flag at the Founder’s Memorial in Abu Dhabi and spoke of Flag Day as a symbol of unity and solidarity under the president’s leadership. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed joined a Flag Day event at the Zayed National Museum grounds and emphasised that the day renews the community’s commitment to the values set by the late Sheikh Zayed and the founding rulers.
Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed said Flag Day represents unity, pride and steadfast loyalty to the homeland, noting the UAE’s respected global role in diplomacy and peace. He added that where the UAE flag is raised, its message of peace and security is also raised.
Flags were raised at important heritage sites across the country on Monday. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed raised the flag at Al Dhafra Fort with local elders and residents present. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed raised the national flag at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain; the gathering included families of fallen soldiers and schoolchildren, and the UAE Armed Forces’ military band performed the national anthem.
Flag Day was founded in 2013 to mark the accession of the late President Sheikh Khalifa. Every November 3, schools, businesses, government departments, citizens and residents raise the flag at 11am to show appreciation for the Emirates.
May Allah continue to bless the UAE and guide its leaders and people. Wa alaikum assalam.
