Please Respect Sacred Words - A Gentle Reminder, Assalamu Alaikum
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته Assalamu alaikum, brothers and sisters. Lately I've seen people - even non-Muslims sometimes - casually using words like “Wallahi” or calling others “kafir” in jokes or light chatter. That really bothers me because these terms have deep meaning in our faith, and treating them like punchlines or throwing them around about people and sinful things waters them down. We shouldn’t be swearing by Allah as if it’s meaningless, nor should we be jokingly labeling someone a disbeliever for small mistakes. There are times when people even swear by Allah about having done something wrong, just to look cool in front of others whose hearts aren’t in the right place. That’s dangerous. Islam teaches us to be careful with oaths and with mocking matters of faith. Allah warns in the Qur’an about those who mock and then try to excuse themselves as “just joking,” and He makes clear that careless oaths have consequences and rules for atonement. So please, take care with the language you use: don’t make light of sacred expressions, don’t throw around terms like “kafir” as a joke, and avoid swearing by Allah without need. Keep your words respectful - it matters more than people often realize. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
