Peace be upon you - a new mufti of Saudi Arabia has been appointed.
Peace be upon you. At the request of the Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a decree appointing Sheikh Saleh bin Fawzan bin Abdullah al-Fawzan as the Grand Mufti of the country, head of the Council of Senior Scholars, and chairman of the General Administration for Scientific Research and Fatwas with the rank of minister.
Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan was born in 1354 AH (1936 AD) in the village of ash-Shamasiyyah in the Qassim province. He received his early education in his hometown and then studied under several well-known scholars, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Humayd in Buraydah and Sheikh Ibrahim bin Ubaid, where he deepened his religious knowledge.
The new mufti holds a bachelor's degree in Sharia, then defended his master's thesis on the topic "The Science of Inheritance (Fara'id)," and dedicated his doctoral dissertation to the question "Food: Permissible and Forbidden from the Perspective of Sharia."
In his profession, he spent many years teaching: two years at the Scientific Institute of Riyadh, then in the Faculty of Sharia, later in the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion (Usul al-Din). He was later appointed director of the Higher Institute of Judicial Studies and upon completion of his term returned to teaching at the same institute.
Besides that, Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan actively participates in religious and scientific work-he gives lectures, writes books, is a member of the Council of Senior Scholars and the Fiqh Academy in Mecca, and is also in charge of the work of preachers during the Hajj as part of Islamic education programs.
Just a reminder that Islam emerged in the 7th century and has had a significant impact on the history, culture, and social development of many peoples. The word "Islam" in Arabic means submission to the will of Allah, and today the religion has over a billion followers.
